Active Sediment Capping

The decontamination or relocation of polluted soil may be difficult, if not impossible, where the contaminants are located under water in the bed of a watercourse or standing waterbody. To limit the ongoing release of contaminants from the waterbody bed into the water and improve water quality, the bed can be capped by a filter layer comprising active minerals.

The active geocomposites from the Tektoseal® Active product family constitute an extremely simple, safe and reliable means of capping waterbody beds. The resulting separating and filter layer offers high mechanical stability and a uniformly thick layer of active substances. The products are relatively easy to put in place and provide an effective substitute for the expensive, difficult-to-install mineral barriers.
